Coronavirus: Cuomo blames White House for directive on releasing patients back into nursing homes

From Global News.

During a briefing on New York State’s coronavirus response on Saturday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo was asked about a state directive that released over 4,500 recovering coronavirus patients into New York’s vulnerable nursing homes in March.

The governor said the state had approximately 68,000 infections at the time and the directive to release those patients was following the guidance put out by the Trump administration. “What New York did was follow what the Republican administration said to do,” Cuomo said.

Gov. Cuomo added that "I refuse to politicize the discussion." He said he’s de-politicizing the discussion, saying “there’s no politics here.”

He also discussed how nobody told the state that European travelers could bring the virus into the state calling it “mind-boggling.”

Cuomo reported that 84 people lost their lives to the virus in the state on Saturday, saying it’s the first time since late March the number of deaths were below 100.
