Hurricane Maria roared across Puerto Rico, knocked out 80% of the island’s electrical grid, and plummeted nearly the entire island into darkness. It was the largest blackout in US history and the second largest in the world. Tere Food’s factory that makes pasteles Puerto Riqueños lost all its inventory due to power outages. One year later, the factory is still operating with 14 employees, making about 57,600 pasteles a month.
