These seeds are not from the pool. Retired UT Extension Agent Mike Dennison identifies it as the excrement from the fall webworm. Groups of these caterpillars build webs in the trees to provide shelter from predators. They are difficult to control once the webs are visible because pesticides can not penetrate to the worms. The best thing to do is spray Bt or Bacillus Thuringiensis on the tree next year before you see the webs. Bt is organic and will control the fall webworm.
