From Global News.
Residents in Newfoundland’s Port aux Basques are dealing with the aftermath of hurricane Fiona, which made landfall in the region as a post-tropical cyclone over the weekend. One woman died after she was swept out to sea and her body was later recovered.
Shocking videos over the weekend showed large waves crashing into homes along the coast and even pulling some homes out to sea.
René Roy, the editor-in-chief of the community’s weekly newspaper, Wreckhouse Press, spoke with Global News Morning Halifax about how prepared Port aux Basques was, how residents are coping and what support they’d like to see.
