Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., argued for impeaching President Donald Trump on Jan. 13, saying that he "remains a grave danger to the nation" in the wake of the attack on the Capitol.
Democrats are pursuing a quick second impeachment a week after Trump gave a speech they say incited insurrection. On Jan. 6, while Congress was in the process of counting Electoral Votes and certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s win, a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol, clashed with police, and forced lawmakers to pause their sessions and evacuate to safety.
Nadler said rioters would be brought to justice, but that lawmakers had a responsibility to address the "gravest threat" — the president — as well.
